Let's talk dilution...

Yes, dilution! Most of essential oils/blends (whether they are Young Living or not) need to be diluted when applied topically.

Why? Because they are very concentrated and very potent, and we advocate a safe use of EO, especially when talking about babies/children. A stronger or more potent dilution does not necessarily mean better results and it may lead to skin reactions.

Some of YL oils say in the bottle they are already diluted and ready to use, like Endoflex, for example. But because I use it daily for my PCOS, I do a 50-50 dilution (50% Endoflex - 50% sweet almond oil or other of your choice). Basically, I get the same effect (tried and tested, it works well even if I do a 40-60 dilution, but not less than that) and this way a bottle of Endoflex lasts me longer (3 months)!!

Let's check now a few handy tables.

First and foremost, dilutions by age! Naturally, the dilution for a baby will be different to that of a grown up. There are very few safe EO for babies, but this will be covered in a different post.

For an acute situation or a short-term treatment, in a grown-up, the dilution can go up to 20-50%! But, again, this is not recommended for an everyday use! See below...

So, and what does this means in terms of number of drops? The tables below can help you with that...

And this one, if you need to go up to 100 ml!!

You can find many other tables and dilution calculators online. Keep these handy, you never know when you'll need them for a safe use of essential oils 😁
